Summary:
Seagen is seeking a highly collaborative Scientist with a strong background in Cancer Biology and Immunology to perform non-clinical research experiments supporting our preclinical research projects and clinical programs. This individual will represent Research on cross-functional project teams supporting pre-IND and/or clinical stage molecules. The successful candidate will be a skilled cancer biologist with a strong immunology background who can execute non-clinical research experiments that directly contribute to the generation of IND packages and mechanism of action (MOA) understanding for Seagen’s therapeutics. They should have a sustained record of being a rigorous scientist, team player, strategic thinker, and an effective communicator.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develops research plans and performs experiments aimed at expanding our understanding of therapeutic MOAs, predictors of sensitivity and resistance and combination strategies as they emerge and evolve
- Execute cross-functional/interdepartmental research activities that support regulatory filings and expanded clinical opportunities
- Identifies critical path experiments aligned with research and development team goals
- Writes/reviews non-clinical pharmacology study reports
- Prioritizes resources in alignment with research leadership team
- Communicates learnings from translational and clinical studies to research group to maximize the potential of pre-clinical molecules
- Presents research at scientific conferences, key contributor to regulatory documents and peer reviewed publications
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field with 0-2 years of experience contributing to therapeutic immune oncology projects focused on drug development or drug discovery; or equivalent education, such as M.S. in a related field with 5+ years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting non-clinical research for IND-track research projects and/or clinical programs
- May lead intra-departmental project team or initiative
- Knowledge of ADCs and/or therapeutic antibodies for immune oncology indications
- Experience leading or contributing core technical expertise to project teams, particularly in the IO space, such as flow cytometry, syngeneic models, and immune cell functional assays
- Ability to identify and plan critical path experiments in alignment with team objectives
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, ability to identify and absorb critical information and convey it to relevant stakeholders
- Uses critical thinking to solve complex problems, address challenges, overcome obstacles and plan for the future
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences
- Strong collaborator with ability to function across teams and a variety of disciplines
- Strong knowledge and expertise in cancer biology and immune oncology research techniques
- Expertise designing, executing, and analyzing in vitro and in vivo experiments to understand mechanism of action for immune oncology therapeutics
Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques suitable for in vitro and in vivo experiments
- Management and mentoring experience
- Ability to recognize and deliver on key department and project objectives
- Ability to adapt and adjust to a rapidly evolving environment

The hiring pay range for this position is $106,000 - $138,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
