Summary:

Seagen is seeking a Research Associate III to join our Potency Assays Group. Potency Assays is responsible for the development, qualification and implementation of Potency assays that include but are not limited to cell-based assays, binding ELISAs and AlphaLISAs as well as other methods to support the characterization and advancement of therapeutics in the Seattle Genetics pipeline.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a keen interest in potency assay automation, both programming and using liquid handlers
  • Perform assays to support sample testing, analyzing and interpreting data
  • Begins to lead teams performing assay qualifications and transfers to QC Train new analysts on assays
  • Begins to lead and take ownership of assay development and troubleshooting
  • Designs and carries out experiments, protocols and troubleshooting studies with minimal guidance. Performs complex experiments that require significant insight into the problems being addressed
  • Transfers and adapts new methods developed by others
  • Organizes and presents work at the project team meetings
  • Clearly and effectively communicates ideas, project goals and results. May represent functional area on cross functional teams
  • Authors internal reports and contributes to publications
  • Serves as a resource within the department in a recognized area of technical expertise
  • Presents within department and to cross-functional teams. May give presentations or present posters externally at conferences
  • Contributes to lab management and equipment maintenance; may be subject matter expert for specific equipment or technology

Qualifications:

  • Experience with programming and use of high-throughput liquid-handling systems is strongly desired
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of immunological and general cell-based assays, ELISAs, cytotoxicity, tissue culture and molecular biology techniques
  • Demonstrates a scientific curiosity & understanding of potency assays and can critically evaluate and apply experimental techniques and approaches
  • Understands scope of projects and how work fits within the context of departmental goals
  • Must be driven, highly-motivated and be able to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Creative, independent, well-organized and solution-oriented
  • Takes initiative to carefully learn new tasks with guidance
  • Works jointly with other groups with coordination by supervisor; accepts direction from others in and outside work group

Education:

  • B.S. or M.S in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Microbiology, Bioengineering or related discipline. B.S. and 5+ years or M.S. and 2+ years industry experience preferred

The hiring pay range for this position is $83,000 - $108,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
