Summer Intern - Early-Stage IND-to-Medicine Research

Description

Summary:

Seagen is looking for a motivated intern to work in the IND to Medicine Research group. In this role, the primary responsibility will be the execution of assays to characterize target expression, and the potency and mechanisms of action (MOA) for our therapeutics. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background, the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative manner, and strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and interpret experiments to generate high quality data for program teams
  • Execute molecular and cell-based methodologies such as multicolor flow cytometry, immunofluorescent and live cell microscopy, cytotoxicity assays, and biochemistry-based assays such as ELISA and western blotting
  • Standard cell culture and co-culture assays to manipulate primary cells and cancer cell lines
  • Investigate MOAs of our therapeutics through development, optimization, and execution of complex assays
  • Present experimental results and scientific rationale to colleagues within Research

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or completed B.S. or M.S. degree in Cellular or Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Immunology, or related field and 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique
  • Ability to perform and interpret experiments with guidance
  • Strong written/oral communication skills; can explain details of the work and how it fits into the bigger picture
  • Organization, time management, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity or experience with a range of cellular and molecular techniques, such as flow cytometry, western blotting, microscopy, reporter assays, and/or Luminex/ELISA assays
  • Prior experience with biologics such as antibodies
  • Practical experience in assay development, including troubleshooting
  • Some experience working with immune cells and/or the tumor microenvironment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and analytical (Prism, FlowJo) software programs
  • Detail-orientated with strong organizational skills
  • Evidence of good technical writing skills

Note: This is an onsite, paid internship. This position is open to all students legally authorized to work in the United States. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship for internships. While housing is not provided by Seagen, we make every effort to connect fellow interns to arrange for joint housing and ride sharing.
