Biology Teachers of New Jersey (BTANJ) --
The BTANJ is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the state of life science education
in New Jersey. The organization seeks to aid biology teachers by organizing hands-on workshops,
publishing an informative newsletter, and providing a means by which biology teachers can exchange
ideas and opinions.
Coucil on Elementary Science - New Jersey
(CES-NJ) -- the Council's mission is to create and nurture a love of science in both teachers
and students in New Jersey. The council holds conferences, supports poster contests and science
events, and publishes a quarterly newsletter.
Education, New Jersey Department
of -- Access information ranging from statistics and reports to curriculum and standards.
Liberty Science Center -- Liberty Science
Center is an innovative learning resource for lifelong exploration of nature, humanity and
technology, supporting the growth of our diverse region and promoting informed stewardship of
the world.
New Jersey Academy of Science
(NJAS) -- The New Jersey Academy of Science is a private, non-profit, scientific and
educational organization of scientists and others interested in science, with a membership of
about 400. Through its Junior Academy it offers grants to high school researchers, holds
annual meetings, and sponsors the "Science for Breakfast" programs that involve high school
science students and professional scientists.
New Jersey BioHistory -- Learn about
significant milestones in the historical development of New Jersey's biotechnology &
medical technology industry.
New Jersey Parent Teachers Association (PTA)
-- The New Jersey PTA's mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in
the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make
decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and
protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of
this nation.
New Jersey Science Convention
-- The New Jersey Science Convention is co-sponsored by the New Jersey Science Teachers
Association and the New Jersey Science Education Leadership Association and continues to be
the second largest annual convention for teachers in the State of New Jersey.
New Jersey Science Olympiad
-- The Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the
quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition
for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are
accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of
intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments.
New Jersey Science Teachers Association (NJSTA)
-- The NJSTA provides support and information for New Jersey's science teachers. This web site
features information on science education news, professional development, and grants.
Princeton
Molecular Biology Outreach Program -- This outreach program hosts secondary school science
teachers each summer for workshops in molecular biology. They also support teachers throughout
the year with loaner equipment, supplies and reagents and events at Princeton University including
an annual reunion for teachers and TIGER talks for students.
South Jersey Science Teachers'
Association -- The South Jersey Science Teachers' Association promotes communication between
educators in our region. The association aims to provide an open forum for educators,
allowing the exchange of ideas and resources.
Waksman Student
Scholars Program (WSSP) -- Faculty at Rutgers University working with high school
teachers to encourage their students to participate in genuine molecular biology research in the
classroom.
